What is a HEPA filter and do I need one? That's a question I saw on another blog and I wanted to answer that question using the response from the other blog.
HEPA is an acronym for "high efficiency particulate air". Basically HEPA is a type of filter that can trap a large amount of very small particles that other vacuum cleaners would simply recirculate back into the air of your home. HEPA filters trap small particles that may cause problems for allergy sufferers and others with health problems. Reducing or eliminating those particles will make cleaner air for the residents of your home. There are true HEPA filters that are usually more expensive and then a lower efficiency type as well. Decide if a true HEPA is necessary for your family, or if capturing a smaller amount of particles is worth the price break on filter costs.
Are you looking for replacement parts for your Sanitaire S4180? Have you considered a HEPA filter for your Sanitaire vacuum? Does reading the post above convince you that it might be worth the price of a HEPA filter for your Sanitaire S4180? I'm an allergy sufferer myself and we have a central vacuum system that takes the dirt out of the house altogether which helps so much. But if I owned a Sanitaire S4180, I wouldn't blink twice about buying a HEPA filter for it. I would also want to buy microlined bags that also help dust from escaping.
