How long have you owned your Sanitaire S654? The Sanitaire S654 may not be the latest model but sometimes the older stuff is very well made. More and more things are manufactured to be thrown out, not fixed. The Sanitaire S654 is made of metal, not plastic. I went looking for Sanitaire S654 on the web and found one sold on ebay for $50. I gotta tell you I was surprised knowing how these machines keep their value.
